... But I'm not doing too badly either. The European vacation has come to its conclusion. I'm back at my desk in the office (aided by jetlag that lets me get up at 5 AM). The results of the semi-annual beard experiment have been disposed of. It's back to the old routine.
If the goal of the vacation was to get me away from work and to stop my brain from running around in the old worn ruts, then it has succeeded mightily. I didn't take it with me, I didn't read work email, and I honestly do feel refreshed and ready to tackle it again. If the vacation goal was relaxation, then it's a mixed success. As the song says, I need home for a rest. The trip was wearing, and at times maddeningly frustrating as I was forced to contend with elemental forces outside my control. Still, it's done. Experience shows that in a year only the good bits will be remembered.
As I have time, I intend to fill in back-dated LJ entries detailing the specifics of the trip. Look for posts starting around April 1.
