I've slowly been migrating my machine shop over to indexable carbide tools. Keeping high-speed steel around seems silly, since I don't have the time or inclination to grind my own edges.
My new parting tool arrived yesterday. I intend to use this mainly when making jewelery, to cut a finished ring from its parent bar. And so I'm amused that the tool itself looks like a ring with a tension-set stone. Or, I suppose, a scepter for driving out the demons of stupidity.
The next project, when I get a minute, is to make something for leftofcool that actually fits... I'm wondering if I'm brave enough to attempt a machined tension setting.
