I spent this weekend at a friend's cottage renewing my Canadian credentials: being bitten by mosquitoes and teaching someone the J-stroke.  Far too much food was consumed, and my faith in humanity restored.  I keep trying to like kayaks, and they keep hurting my back, so I feel I must settle on the canoe as the one true boat.

Having six adults and no possible external interruptions we took the opportunity to have a bash at a classic 1979 board game: Avalon Hill's Dune.  We have owned this since 1999, but never managed a complete game.  This weekend we played through it twice.  Good times.  House Harkonen won twice, once on its own (played by jo_etal) and once (played by me) in alliance with House Atreides and The Guild, fighting against an alliance of The Emperor and The Bene Geserit.
