On a last-minute Christmas Eve trip to the outdoors store (because it's not Christmas if you don't get socks) I picked up some replacement boots. I was overjoyed to find out that I can now afford Vasque Sundowners. The dollar price has come down over the past ten years, and factoring inflation they're now much cheaper than they used to be. They're now made offshore, but I hope that the legendary quality remains.
Note the complete absence of seams. It's a single massive piece of cow. There's a full steel shank in the sole too, making them uber-solid. There's no dainty walking in these. They demand to be stomped.
